The Jordanian government condemned the heinous assassination that led to the martyrdom of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh this morning in Jenin.

Minister of State for Media Affairs, Faisal Shboul, stressed in a statement carried out by the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that this crime constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and conventions, which stipulate that journalists must be protected, calling on the international community to take action to protect them.

Shboul expressed his sincere sympathy and condolences to journalists around the world, and to the family of the late Abu Akleh.

He also expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery for the Palestinian journalist Ali Al-Samoudi, who was injured during the terrible murder of Abu Akleh.
